Plymouth porcelain bowl, ‘Stag Hunt’ pattern, c. 1770.

£380.00

An extremely rare Plymouth hard paste porcelain bowl, 1768-1770. Hand painted with a version of the Stag Hunt pattern, within a shaped gilt panel. The reverse with two figures in a rural landscape, before a Chinese pavilion.
The bowl exhibits all the anomalies of Plymouth porcelain production – ‘wreathing’ in the body, firing faults, ‘smoking’ to the glaze, as a result of refiring over a star crack that appeared in the original firing.

Diameter – 16 cm, 6 1/4”

Height – 7.5 cm, 2 7/8”.

Condition – Section broken out and reglued. An assortment of firing faults, in the original production. Please see images for detail.
