Pratt Wesleyan Chapel money box, Mexborough Pottery, dated 1847.

A fine Prattware Mexborough Pottery money box, dated 1847. Modelled after the building which previously housed the Wesleyan Chapel, and stands opposite where the Mexborough Pottery was located in South Yorkshire. Having three arched windows, over two doors, and inscribed ‘J. Schofield, Born 13 April 1847’. The gable ends with further arched windows, beneath two chimneys.
Having two cherubs to either side of the chapel, and set upon a shaped rectangular base, supported by four ball feet.
A rectangular slot is located in the back of the roof, to accept coins.
Decorated in typical Pratt glazes.

Height – 17 cm, 6 5/8”.
Length – 16.5 cm, 6 1/2”.
Depth – 12.7 cm, 5”.

Condition – Repair to rear right ball foot. Otherwise in excellent condition.
