Qajar damascened steel pen box, Qalamdan, 19th Century. The top of the case, worked in gold inlay, with scenes of figures at tables, with attendants. A continuous scene of birds amongst floral scrollwork to the sides, and the base inlaid in silver with further floral scrollwork.
Opening to reveal a container for writing implements, and its original inkwell.
Length – 20 cm, 7 7/8”.
Height – 2.5 cm, 1”.
Depth – 3.2 cm, 1 1/4”.
Condition – Some typical wear to the gilt and silvering. No damage. No repair.
