Satsuma Pottery Squared Vase, Kinkozan, circa 1890, Meiji Period
Satsuma pottery vase, circa 1890, Meiji Period. The large, squared shaped vase painted with four circular panels. One panel painted with a family before a river, the reverse panel with a seated Samurai, with a young boy. The side panels with birds and insects amongst flowering plants.
All upon a cobalt blue ground, well painted in raised gilt, with a profusion of flowering plants, between lappet borders.
Gilt Kinkozan signature, in a red seal to the base.
Measures: Height – 15.2 cm, 6”.
Width – 11 cm, 4 3/8”.
Condition – Typical minor wear to the gilding. No damage. No restoration.
