An unusually large Scottish pottery Bacchus mug, Prestonpans, c. 1840. The finely modelled grinning head of Bacchus, beneath a moulded graping vine, decorated in typical glazes, and having especially piercing eyes.
Having a large scroll handle, heightened in blue, and set upon an oval foot, edged in beading.
This is a particularly large example, holding a good pint of……… beer !
Height: 16 cm, 6 3/8”.

Depth: 10.5 cm, 4 1/8”.
Condition: Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
