A large, and heavy quality Japanese silvered bronze okimono, c. 1890, Meiji Period. Finely modelled as a Japanese Chin puppy, with his paws resting upon a ball.
The playful dog realistically cast, and hand finished with chiselled detail to accentuate its flowing coat. His eyes inlaid in silver, over a shakudo ground.
The bronze ball, picked out in silver, and copper, with geometric motif and various stylised textile designs.
