Staffordshire pair of Hunting Dogs, c. 1850.

A rare and fine pair of Staffordshire pottery dogs, c. 1850. Finely modelled as Hunting Hounds, recumbent upon shaped rectangular bases in underglaze cobalt blue, with a single gilt line.
The hounds with alert expressions on their faces, finely moulded hair and, painted with liver red spots, feathered at the edges.
Length -14 cm, 5 1/2”.
Height – 10.2 cm, 4”.
Depth – 7.2 cm, 2 7/8”.
Condition – Firing cracks to the underside of the bases. No damage. No restoration.
