Sunderland lustre jug, ‘Sailors Return’, c. 1840. The large jug printed and hand painted with the Sailors departure, and ‘The Sailors Return’, along with a rhyme beneath the spout. Decorated with pink lustre squiggles, between lustre rims.
Having a large loop handle.
All under a pearlware glaze.
Height – 20 cm, 7 7/8”.
Width (Handle to spout) – 24.5 cm, 9 5/8”.
Condition – Typical minor age related wear to the overglaze enamel. No damage. No restoration.
