A rare pair of Wedgwood ‘Cinque Cento’ candlesticks, c. 1876. The column form candlesticks, modelled in Renaissance style, with floral form bobêche, supported by four female busts, above a squared section, with four reticulated and gilded panels of figures and torcheres.
Set upon circular pedestal feet, moulded with leaves.
Decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, and heightened in gilt.
Impressed and printed factory marks, Retailers mark for John Mortlock, London. Impressed Diamond Registration mark for 14 November 1876.
Height – 27.3 cm,10 3/4”.
Diameter – 12 cm, 4 3/4”.
Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
