First Period Worcester porcelain vase, c. 1770. The vase modelled after a Chinese ‘Gu’ shaped vase, and finely painted with fan shaped gilt panels of ‘Fancy Birds’, amongst trees. Divided by smaller panels containing moths and insects. All upon a cobalt blue ground, enhanced with gilt flowers, grasses and leaves.
The central boss, painted with further moths and insects, above a spreading foot, with gilt sprays of flowers, on a cobalt blue ground.
Height – 13 cm, 5 1/8”.
Diameter – 8.5 cm, 3 3/8”.
Condition – Some wear to the gilding. No damage. No restoration.
