Yorkshire Potteries pearlware marriage teapot and cover, dated 1786. The globular teapot hand painted in underglaze blue with the initials MK and SB, above the date 1786, and the rhyme –
‘When this You see, remember me,
And keep me in your mind,
Let all the World, say what they will,
Speak as you find.’
The reverse painted with a chinoiserie garden scene.
Having a lightly domed cover, painted with flower sprigs, and having a button finial.
All beneath a pearlware glaze.
Height – 15.5 cm, 6 1/8”.
Length (Handle to spout) – 21.5 cm, 8 1/2”.
Depth – 11.5 cm, 4 1/2”.
Condition – Small chips to spout. Chips to cover. Some staining to the glaze.
(I prefer to see this type of item with its historical blemishes, even so, if you require, I can have the chips repaired.)
